Have you ever dreamed of sitting at a traditional loom and weaving your own rag rug? This workshop is designed for those who would like to experience the process of weaving but do not have time to attend a longer course covering all the stages of preparing a loom.

During two intensive days, each participant will work at a loom that has already been prepared and warped in advance. This means that from the very beginning, you can focus on weaving itself – you will learn how to work with four shafts, operate the loom, and understand the principles of creating pattern and rhythm in a woven textile.

The workshop begins with a short introduction to the construction of the loom, the process of creating a woven textile and the basics of rag rug weaving. After that, most of the time is dedicated to hands-on practice. Each participant works at their own loom, with the instructor providing guidance and explaining each stage of the process as you progress.

At the end of the workshop, you will take your rag rug off the loom, finish it and take home your own completed, handwoven textile.

The workshop is suitable both for complete beginners and for those who have already had some experience with weaving and would like to try working on a traditional four-shaft loom.

Workshop Programme

During the workshop, you will learn:

  • A short introduction to weaving and the construction of the loom,

  • How the four shafts work,

  • How to operate the loom while weaving,

  • How to weave your own rag rug with guidance from the instructor,

  • How to finish your completed textile.

This is a workshop where you can focus on making from beginning to end. Instead of spending time preparing the warp, you can simply sit down at the loom and experience the pleasure of weaving.
