Join us for a three-day weaving course designed for complete beginners who would like to discover the craft of weaving and learn how to make traditional rag rugs.
During the course, participants will learn the basics of working on a four-shaft floor loom and weave their own rag rug. Step by step, we will go through the entire process – from preparing the loom and warp to completing and finishing the woven piece.
Course Programme
During the course, participants will learn:
The basic construction and operation of a four-shaft loom,
How to calculate and select the appropriate warp,
How to measure and prepare the warp,
How to wind the warp onto the loom,
How to thread the warp through the heddles and reed,
How to prepare the loom for weaving,
How to weave traditional rag rugs using strips of fabric,
How to properly finish the completed textile.
The course is strongly practice-oriented – participants will spend most of their time working at the loom, developing the skills needed to continue weaving independently after completing the course.

Location: LoomRoom Studio, Galeria Leśna (1st floor), ul. 3 Maja 47, Hajnówka, Poland
Dates: 14–16 August 2026 (Friday–Sunday)
Duration: 3 days
Hours: 10:00–18:00 (each day includes a lunch break as well as coffee and tea breaks)

The Course Fee Includes
Participation in the three-day course,
All materials required to weave your own rag rug,
Use of the loom and studio equipment,
Coffee, tea and sweet refreshments.
Accommodation and meals are not included and should be arranged individually by participants.
This course is a wonderful opportunity to discover a traditional craft, learn how to work on a floor loom and weave your own rag rug from fabric strips. The finished rug will not only be a practical and unique addition to your home, but also a lasting reminder of the skills you have learned.
The workshop will be led by an experienced textile craftsperson who works with both embroidery and weaving and specialises in documenting, researching and creatively using traditional textile patterns from the Podlasie region.
